Another view on the Aga Khan
I was just reading your website, and I encountered with some issues that were not correct. I agree with your article in some extent, but there is some wrong information that needs to be changed or deleted. I do not blame you that you have put wrong information about Agakhan knowing that this information could be wrong or inaccurate because whatever you wrote you confessed that they might not be accurate. (A little suggestion, giving information out, especially in the Internet, world wide media, one should read the book first.)
The Aga Khan
|
I am an Ismaili or Agakhani (whatever you want to call me). First issue I want to point out to you is that Imam Ismail did not die before his father Imam Jafar Sadiq. What happened was Ismail had a step brother (step son of Imam Jafar-Sadiq) named Musa-Kazim. Some Shiite said that since Musa was the eldest brother he should be the imam but Imam Jaffer said that Ismail will be the next imam. Since Ismail was Imam Jaffer's blood and Imam Jaffer's farman was to make Ismail Imam, Ismailis chose Ismail, a true descendent of Hazrat Ali, and that is how they are called Ismaili (not Agakhani).
Today's Imam is Karim Agakhan, his grand father name was Sultan Muhammed Shah Agakhan. His father's name was Ali Shah Aga Khan and his father's name was Hassan Ali Shah Agakhan. Four generations ago, the title Agakhan was given to Hassan Ali Shah for the first time in Imamat history by a government of Iran, because of Imam's good performance and since then this title has passed down to his generations. That is how we are called Agakhani.
Agakhan means "King of the King"
FROM "One Agakhani" (anonymous)
This is one of many letters I have received on this subject. There are 37 varieties of Islam and this is one of the most divisive points. I really know nothing about this subject, but here is what I wrote about it anyway: Prince Karim Aga Khan: How he became the Aga Khan.
