I am just starting to realize how big a project this would be, so I want to try a much smaller project, just translating the first five verses of the Bible.
What I want to do now is collect translations of the first five verses of the Bible into as many different languages as I can find. I will post these translations as I receive them on my web site.
The Bible has been translated into over a thousand languages. I hope to collect translations of the first five verses onto one or two hundred languages. So, far translations have been received in 15 languages: Bengali, Esperanto, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, Latin, Nepali, Northern Sotho, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish.
Will anybody who has a translation of the first five verses of the Bible or any part of them please e-mail the translation to me? I will collect these translations and post them on my web page at http://www.samsloan.com/genesis.htm
I will only accept translations in the Roman alphabet. Translations into languages which do not use the Roman alphabet, such a Russian, Arabic, Hebrew, Georgian, Hindi, Urdu and Japanese, will have to be transliterated into the Roman alphabet.
