Dearest Mad Dog,

I have had my parole transferred to California and am now living with my millionaire girlfriend out here.

I must frankly state that your appeal to the Supreme Court of Virginia has very little chance of success, not because you do not have a good case, but because nobody wins in Virginia.

I imagine that by now you have probably already lost your appeal.

When you receive your decision denying your appeal, please send me a copy. I will write up a federal habeas corpus petition, for you to file in federal court. You have a much better chance in that court. For example, it is obvious that your double jeopardy rights were violated on the gun charge, as there was only one gun involved, so how could there be two convictions.

Please feel free to circulate my address to anybody who wants to write me. I would like to keep in touch with the people there, but I have not had much time for letter writing since I got out. However, I have not forgotten that it is only due to a miracle that I am out here instead of in there with you.

Sincerely Yours,

Ismail Sloan
