Circular Handed out During 1991 Election Campaign

In January, 1986, Lawrence Janow, a long time personal enemy of my family, was appointed as a Judge of the Amherst County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Starting almost from his first day in office, for the past nearly six years, Judge Janow has used that position to fulfill a long-standing personal vendetta against my entire family. My children have been kidnapped. My mother, a retired medical doctor and once one of the moat respected members of the community, has had her picture in her wanted poster handed out at public supermarkets. My mother and I have been chased around the world for four years by hired gangsters and criminals, determined to kill me and trying to capture my entire family, all with the express authorization of Judge Janow.

The result is that now my poor 81-year-old mother, who wanted nothing more than to be with her grandchildren, is for that reason an incarcerated prisoner. She will probably never be allowed to see her devoted son or her grandchildren for the remainder of her life. My three children have all been kidnapped; two of them I have recovered but they must be kept hidden at a far distance from Virginia for fear that if brought here Judge Janow will have them kidnapped again.

My nine-year-old daughter, Shamema, whose mother lives in Pakistan and has nothing to do with this, was successfully kidnapped in the United Arab Emirates on the personal order of Judge Janow and brought here to this foreign country. Over there, she was a brilliant and gifted student, the top of her class all in all subjects, fluent in three languages, and praying five times a day in the local mosque.

Now, she is being held in Amherst County, Virginia by criminals who paid $12,000 to have her kidnapped . They are keeping her under constant armed guard in the Temple Baptist Church, where they are trying to force my daughter to abandon the religion of both of her parents. My nine-year-old doubter has not spoken a word in public in the year since she was kidnapped. The woman who is holding her hostage, a Mrs. Roberts, who is no blood relation whatever to my daughter, carries in her purse a 357 Magnum handgun at all times, for the purpose of killing me. My beautiful and devoted daughter, instead of reading books and learning on a computer, is being given target practice on how to shoot a 357 Magnum handgun, so that she can shoot her own father, should I try to come and visit her.

All this is being done by the corrupt officials of Amherst County, Virginia, elected by you. There is no civilized law in Amherst County, Virginia, only the law of the gun. I don't know how to shoot a handgun. I have never held one in my entire life. My nine-year-old daughter knows. She has been taught how to shoot a handgun with your taxpayer dollars.

Immediately after my daughter had been kidnapped and brought to America, Judge Lawrence Janow ordered that the very people who had paid to have her kidnapped should receive money from the Amherst County Department of Social Services to take care of the child which they had kidnapped. Thus, instead of being put in jail where they belonged, they actually received money from the state. One the first things they did was teach my daughter how to fire a handgun. My daughter was eight years old at the time. Perhaps my daughter could have used it on them. These people are so stupid that they are not concerned about possibilities like that.

All that I am asking is that this vile and vicious man, this corrupt and crooked judge, should not be allowed to have another six years as a judge. His term of office is up in January, 1992. If you allow this criminal have another six years in office as a judge, just so that he can continue to harass my family, it will be a disaster of monumental proportions.

Judge Janow's receives a salary of $93,000 per year. For that amount of money, he does not need to take bribes from litigants. He clearly should never have been allowed to be the judge in a case where he was already personally involved. The problem with the law is that when a judge is crooked, and the local officials are merely incompetent, the system simply doesn't work.

My poor mother, Dr. Helen Marjorie Sloan, worked for 41 years for the State of Virginia, only to have every penny of her money stolen by a crooked judge right here in Lynchburg, Virginia. He froze her bank account for the purpose of depriving her of the retirement funds necessary to pay her hospital bill, and when she was six weeks in the hospital in Bangkok and her bill could not be paid because of the judge's freeze on her bank account, she was taken into custody. Now, my mother, still strong and healthy, is a prisoner. In all probability, she will never get out for the remainder of her life. All this was done to assist Judge Janow in his nefarious scheme to kidnap my daughter and have her brought to America, because Judge Janow wanted my mother's money frozen so as to force my mother to surrender her granddaughter.

I was intending to run for office myself on election day, to try to get rid of these corrupt elements in our society, but I was in jail. I had to come all the way from the Persian Gulf on the other side of the world to rescue my kidnapped daughter, only to be arrested myself by a crooked Commonwealth Attorney for trying to get her back. No law on earth ever written declares my conduct to be illegal, whereas carrying a concealed weapon, as the Roberts always do, is against the law. Yet, I was put in jail and the kidnapers of my daughter are still walking freely on the streets. Judge Janow gets $93,000 per year, which is a lot of money in today's depressed economy. Every lawyer in Amherst and Campbell Counties would like to have that job. Please, I beg of you. Find another man to be the judge for the next six years. Don't return Judge Janow to his position again.

The above leaflet was handed out at the polling places in Amherst County on Election Day, 1991, was mailed to every practicing lawyer in Lynchburg, and was mailed to the Governor and to every member of the Virginia State Legislature.

Nevertheless, Judge Lawrence Janow was re-appointed for another six years as a judge in January, 1992. See: Re-appointment of Judge Janow
