When Nerissa Bowes-Lyon died in 1986, she was buried in Redhill cemetery. Her grave was marked with a plastic tag bearing a serial number and her name.

Kathleen Bowes-Lyon was still alive a couple of years ago, there was a story that she was one of a group of elderly patients about to be transferred from the hospital where they had been living happily for a number of years into smaller care in the community type units.
