Sandra Kimura Sloan, my daughter smiles
Sandra Kimura Sloan, Sunday, November 11, 2001 at 4:02 AM EST at Elmhurst Hospital, Elmhurst, Queens, New York. The baby weighs 7 pounds 15 ounces or 3.60 kilograms. She is 49 centimeters long. She is an extremely healthy, active and good looking baby and appears to have dark blue eyes, although it is too early to tell.
Kayo Kimura, 35, delivered the baby after 13 hours of labor without using pain killers of any kind. About one hour prior to giving birth, Kayo requested a pain killer and this was prepared for her but the nurse mentioned that this might delay the birth of the baby by an hour because Kayo would not know when to push. Hearing that, Kayo changed her mind and said that she did not want any pain killers.

The baby was delivered by Dr. A. Kremer, assisted by Suzanne Malconado, RN, and Sam Sloan, the father. I had seen babies born before but never this close, where I was holding Kayo's head and one of her legs to help her push the baby out.
