Abraham was mentioned in his uncle David's will 14 August 1781, in
Huntington, Long Island. (Vol. 10, NY Historical Society Collection, p.
160). He seems to have been very familiar with Huntington, the country and
the families there, although he spent his life in CT. A prominent Doctor,he
was known throughout the CT countryside, serving the Stamford and NewCanaan area.

He was chosen ruling Elder of the New Canaan Church, 2 August 1754, andwas
sent as a delegate to the Presbytery at Brookhaven, Suffolk Co., Long
Island.

He and his three eldest sons, Abraham, David and Nathan, served at the
Battle of Ridgefield. One of the boys enlisted four different times.During
the Battle of Ridgefield, the youngest son, Stephen, age 6, and his mother
Jerusha had to hide in caves for safety.

Abraham bought part of "Cherry Brook", his father's home place, and
established a fine home which his son Nathaniel succeeded to. His sonDavid
became the owner of the original David Chichester home at "Cherry Brook".
The Rev. William Drummond reported visiting in this home on Christmas Eve,
1772, and meeting Abraham, David and their families there.

He and Jerusha were married by Rev. John Eyles.

He and Jerusha were admitted into the Church in New Canaan, December 2,
1753, reaffirmed November 6, 1774.

Susannah Chichester [Parents] was born on 21 Dec 1733 in Stamford. She died on 23 Jul 1852 in Plattsburg, Steuben Co., NY. She married Jonathan Kellogg on 29 Mar 1756 in New Canaan, CT.


Daniel Chichester [Parents] was born on 6 Apr 1738 in Stamford District, CT. He died on 5 Dec 1810 in Ridgefield, CT. He married Rachel Roberts on 12 Jun 1764 in Ridgefield, CT.

There were no children born to this union. Daniel was active in civic
affairs and was a true patriot. He was one of 37 signers of a petition 2
Jan. 1782, remonstrating against allowing "Tories" who had served in the
British forces to return as citizens of either town. [History of Stamford,
by Rev. Huntington, p. 256]

Daniel and Rachel were dismissed from New Canaan Church in 1786 to move to
Ridgefield, CT., where they remained. He died 5 Dec. 1810.

Page 330.--In the name of God, Amen. I, DAVID CHICHESTER, of the town of
Hunttington, Suffolk County, this 7 of February, 1764. After payment ofall
debts I leave to my wife Sarah o50 and all household goods which shebrought
to me. "Also my chair horse and riding chair and 2 cows, 6 sheep, and 2
goats, and all the provisions I have in the house." And 20 bushels ofwheat
and 20 bushels of corn and all the flax. These things I give to my wife in
lieu of dower. I leave to my daughter Mary o150 when she is 18. I leave to
my wife the use of my house and farm until my son Abraham is of age,except
what I shall hereafter dispose of. And when he comes of age if she remains
my widow she is to have the best room in the house. If my son Abraham dies
without issue, then my wife is to have o100. My executors are to disposeof
all my plain land lying on the Great Plains. Also my great field joiningto
the road near Benjamin Conkling's. Also my young orchard joining to the
orchard of Thomas Conkling. Also all my land on the East Neck, and mywhole
stock of cattle and my crib and barracks and all my farming utensils andmy
negro man. I make my father-in-law, Joseph Lewis, and my brother-in-law,
Obadiah Smith, and my brotherin-law, Joseph Lewis, Jr., executors.

His will of February 17, 1764 (Liber 24 p 330, NY) mentions his
father-in-law, Joseph Lewis, wife Sarah, his brother-in-law, ObediahSmith,
daughter Mary and son Abraham. There is no mention of any other children.

Sarah Lewis.Sarah married David Chichester on 31 Jan 1749/1750 in First Presbyterian Church, Huntington, L.I.. Sarah was baptized on 16 Apr 1732 in Huntington, L.I., NY.

Ebenezer was employed as in Cordwainer (shoemaker). He had a will probated on 11 Nov 1750. He signed a will on 25 Dec 1749.

Hunttington, in Suffolk County, cordwainer, being the 11 of November,1750,
very sick. I leave to my wife Ruth the use of all houses and lands andgoods
and money for the support of her, and for the bringing up of my children,
while she remains my widow or until the children are of age. If shemarries,
she shall have o40 in lieu of dower. I leave to my daughter Ruth 1/2 ofthe
household goods when she is 18 years of age, and the other 1/2 to my wife
during widowhood and then to my daughter Ruth, and I also leave her o50. I
leave to my son Joseph my dwelling house and homestead when he is of age.I

to trades. I make my father, James Chichester, and my cousin, Benjamin

In it he names his wife, RUTH, his father JAMES, cousin BENJAMIN LESTER.He
mentions putting his sons out to trade (apprentice), He speaks of foursons
but only mentions three. One already taken care of or having died. [CHB p.
24]

COMMENT; The mentioning of BENJAMIN LESTER as a cousin could mean one ofhis
(EBENEZER'S) sisters probably married a LESTER man. The sister may havebeen
his sister ABIGAIL.
