Lane Gifford was born in Massachusetts where she first learned to dance at the Boston Conservatory. She received a BFA in dance performance and an MFA specializing in choreography from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College. Seeking ways to address this she has examined different creative venues working for such companies as Time Warner and Sony Music where she produced and designed television and radio commercials for artists including Wynton Marsalis, Mandy Moore, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Mariah Carey, and John Mellencamp. Her choreographed works range from commissioned modern ballets for companies such as Ballet Philippines, to fashion shows and promotional videos for companies such as Seventeen Magazine, Converse, and designer Issey Miyake. She has taught choreography at several schools including Purchase College, the School for Ballet Philippines in Manila, and the Graded School in Sao Paula, Brazil. Recipient of a Twyla Thorp Residency Award, a Telly Award in Design for her work in television, a Professional Incentive Award from Columbia University, and an Outstanding MFA Award from Purchase College, Lane Gifford has been recognized for her professional and academic achievement in the arts.
