A little later upon the fall of theEmpire in 1871 he returned to America, m. 7th September, 1871, CarolineLe Roy (APPLETON) EDGAR, dau. of Samuel and Julia (WEBSTER) APPLETON andwidow of Newbold EDGAR and resided at Newport, Rhode Island, andWashington, District of Columbia, until his death.
