Re: Dayawathie Rankoth v. M. Ismail Sloan, aka Sam Sloan, Docket #O-4214/97
Dear Judge Ross,
I am writing on behalf of Dayawathie Rankoth. Ms. Rankoth is withdrawing her Violation of Order of Protection and Family Offense petitions in the above case and therefore will not appear in your Part on Monday, June 23. While I have extremely strong evidence that Mr. Sloan is dangerous (as demonstrated by the writings he has posted on his website on the Internet at http://www.ishipress.com ), I have recently received information that demonstrates that the Petitioner cannot prove these allegations by a preponderance of the evidence. I have discussed all of the ramifications of withdrawing the petitions with the petitioner and she still wishes to withdraw her petitions.
Sanctuary for Families, Little Sisters of the Assumption and Sakhi for Southasian Women will continue to work with Ms. Rankoth and her children, and with the District Attorney's office in the pending criminal case against the Respondent. We are assisting with relocating Ms. Rankoth and her children into a shelter for victims of domestic violence.
I greatly appreciate the sensitivity you have shown Ms. Rankoth in this matter.
Sincerely,
Dorchen A. Leidholdt, Esq.
Attorney for the Petitioner
