Jennie Frenklakh created a sensation when, at age 15, she won her first five games to be in first place in the U. S. Open Chess Championship last August, 1995.
Jennie was born on May 4, 1980 in Belarus, near Chernobl, and came to the U.S. when she was nine.
In 1993, Jennie won the U.S. Junior Championship for players under 13. In 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995 Jennie represented the United States in World under-12, under-14 and under-20 Championships. Jennie won the Experts Section of the Western Open Championships in Reno, 1995.
Jennie says that she only studies chess two or three hours a day.
After more than one year of me saying that Jennie is a chess master, she has finally received her official master's rating. Jennie is rated 2207 by the USCF in the 1996 Annual rating list.
