Shamema Honzagool Sloan while held in captivity. Shamema Honzagool Sloan was kidnapped in Fujairah, United Arab Emiates on October 7, 1990 by agents of Charles and Shelby Roberts of Amherst County, Virginia, when she was 8 years old.

Shamema was born in New York City on October 15, 1981.

This is the first photo released by the Roberts since Shamema was kidnapped.

Note that Shamema wears an American flag and a depiction of a Holy Bible. This is in pointed reference to the fact that the mother of Shamema is a Muslim of Chitral, Pakistan.

Prior to her kidnapping, Robert Murphy, the United States Consul General in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, wrote, "Shamema is the brightest child that I have ever seen." For photos of Honzagool, the distraught mother of Shamema, see: Honzagool .

UPDATE: My kidnapped daughter, Shamema, has turned 18, has joined the United States Marines, and has posted her own picture on my guestbook. I am not sure what to make of this, but I am sure that is her.
