Nikanama, or Marriage Certificate, between Ismail Sloan and Honzagool

Here is the original nikanama memorializing the marriage between Ismail Sloan and Honzagool.

The Nikanama is attested to by the Chief Officer, District Council Chitral.

Actually, the chief officer, Rehmat Ghazi Khan, was out of town at the time, so his secretary signed and rubber stamped it.

The marriage ceremony itself had taken place on February 17, 1980 in Damik, the village of Honzagool. This Nikanama was obtained to facilitate her departure from Chitral for her new home in America.

Since then, Raja Ehsan Aziz and apparently Charles Roberts have tried to contend that the marriage was not legal. Raja Ehsan Aziz was trying to marry my wife without the benefit of a divorce based upon this claim.

The marriage was perfectly legal, as this document demonstrates. More than that, the marriage ceremony took place in the house of Honzagool, with all of her brothers, uncles and cousins present, along with her mother.
