So, I called the translator and she convinced me that her way sounds better in Chinese. It means something like "Great Dragon".
The reason my name was translated into Chinese is because of a court case brought years ago on behalf of Chinese Americans. For this reason, all Board of Elections documents are translated into Chinese. Korean Americans brought a similar suit and therefore documents are translated into Korean as well.
Surprisingly, no suit has been brought on behalf of Bangladeshis, Arabs, Indians or other groups that exist in large numbers in New York City.
The Chinese translator told me that I would be contacted by a Korean translator as well. However, no Korean translator sent me a letter. I believe that this was because few Koreans live in the district where I was running.
